Step One - If you're in the US, you've got it easy. Simply call the national credit bureaus toll-free number 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688) or visit This automated service is run jointly by the four main credit bureaus.

Step Two - Press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish

Step Three - Select option 3 to opt out of mailings permanently. Be careful, because other options are time limited.

Step Four - Follow the prompts to enter your phone number, name, zip code, address, and social security number.


  • Note: this service will ask for private information, such as your Social Security number and you must provide it to opt out.
