Software under active developement.
[]
Fixed part[]
The program must have an active community that fix bugs, and there should be new releases from time to time. It depends on the size of the project, but if there is no release for 6 or 12 months then the project is not active for sure.
Flexible part[]
The program must have basic but good documentation or being documented while we are here.
Recomanded part[]
It is best to use programs where there are many developpers involved and where the source code is well documented as well, and well done.

Fixed part[]
Either there are new releases, either the company is working on a big release. The software must not be considered Abandonware.
Flexible part[]
The program must have basic but good documentation or being documented while we are here.
Recomanded part[]
It is best if there are not good free alternatives and if the product is considered financially interesting in the near future.
